A Message for You - Welcome

 A Message for You!

As sugar and flour come together to make

A wonderful cookie creation that you bake,

Parents and teachers join as one to create

An educated daughter or son.

It takes lots of love, caring and understanding

But an individual will emerge who is special

We will work together to help each child bloom

So they can grow and prosper as they learn in this room.

So I share this little confection with you as I say

I am committed to helping your child grow each and every day.

Yes the road is long, but the journey's begun

As we strive to educate your daughter or your son.

 Welcome to Room 7

Room 7 is a great place to be!! We have a class of 19 wonderful 2nd grade students.

I am very happy to be your child's teacher this year. Together your child and I will be busy with a year full of learning, investigation and fun. I am excited about this year and hope your child is, too. As the parents and the teacher of this classroom, we will be working together to provide an environment that will be safe, comfortable, stimulating, nurturing and challenging. Your child's best interest is my first priority. I will keep you informed of your child's progress, advise you of classroom activities and always welcome your input and support.

Communication is essential for us to work together effectively. I have several ways in which we can exchange ideas, concerns, questions or comments.

*You can e-mail me at  This is probably the best way to reach me. I will do my best to reply to your e-mail as soon as possible.

           * You may call me at school at any time and leave a message. I can be reached directly in my classroom between 8:00 and 8:15 am, and 3:20 and 4:00 pm.

           * You also may write to me at any time.

If you would like to meet with me, I can be available in the morning before school and during the class specials times. If these times are not convenient for you, we can discuss a time after school.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to make you aware of couple of our classroom policies and procedures.

           * Morning Snack- We will be having snack each morning.  Please send one small, healthy snack with your child that can be eaten easily, independently and quickly.   There will be no snack on early dismissal days as lunch at an earlier time. Please remember that items containing nuts are not permitted in the classroom and the only drink allowed is water.

            * Sneakers- Our class has gym on Friday.  Please be sure your child is wearing the appropriate shoes for gym. Also check that your child is not wearing clothing that may make it difficult to participate in gym.

            * Discipline- If your child behaves inappropriately, he/she will be asked to “take a break” to reflect on how he/she will return to class with improved behavior.  If the inappropriate behavior continues or disrupts learning, a note will be sent home.  Additional steps will be taken if the student’s behavior does not improve.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
